Spring-force analysis of a pressure check valve
How strong must the spring be so a check valve opens when it should? We let the flow answer it.

The challenge
A pressure check valve opens against a spring. The team needed to know the force the flow exerts, so the spring could be specified correctly.
What we did
- Prepared the flow model of the valve.
- Solved the flow at an inlet pressure of 34.5 bar and established convergence.
- Determined the spring force required, from the input and output conditions.
The outcome
The force exerted on the spring was quantified, giving the spring force required for the stated input and output conditions.
