Product design and engineering services, from concept to production-ready data.
New product development, redesign, cost and weight reduction and life enhancement, delivered by engineers who work to your standards and your tools.
What we deliver
Design support across the whole product lifecycle.
Our mechanical engineers take a product from first concept to released manufacturing data, and support existing products through redesign and improvement.
New product design
Concept development, layout and 3D design of parts and assemblies against your requirements.
Redesign and improvement
Re-design of existing products to remove defects, improve performance or extend product life.
Cost and weight reduction
Value engineering that reduces cost and weight while protecting function and performance.
FEA validation of concepts
Early analysis of design concepts, so decisions are tested before drawings are released.
DFMEA
A structured review of potential failure modes and their effects during design.
Drawings with GD&T
Manufacturing drawings and tolerance analysis developed with GD&T.
How it works
Four stages from brief to released drawings.
Each stage has defined inputs, outputs and a review point, so you can see progress and steer the design as it develops.
- Stage 1. Product design and development: design, re-design, cost and weight reduction, life enhancement.
- Stage 2. Detail engineering: 3D CAD modelling, drafting, tolerance analysis and manufacturing drawings.
- Stage 3. Design and engineering analysis: design validation, failure assessment, life estimation and optimisation.
- Stage 4. CAD automation, where repeated designs can be configured rather than redrawn.
Sectors we support
Power transmission
Design and engineering of worm, helical and planetary gearboxes.
Automotive
Body-in-white, interiors and underbody development, with validation support.
Industrial equipment and machine tools
Involvement from early concept design through detailed engineering.
Process equipment, OEMs and suppliers
Design support for original equipment manufacturers and their supply chains.
Frequently asked questions
Can you work in our CAD system and to our drawing standards?
Yes. We select tools and templates around your environment, subject to project scope and resource availability. Tell us your CAD system, standards, templates and naming rules at the start and we will confirm that we can work to them.
Can you design a product from a concept brief?
Yes. Our engineers develop concepts and layouts against your requirements, validate them with analysis where it helps, and release detailed manufacturing drawings. You keep control of the design decisions at each review.
Do you help reduce the cost or weight of an existing product?
Yes. Value engineering, redesign and analysis-led optimisation are part of our product practice. We look at material, process, assembly and tolerance choices together, so savings do not come at the expense of performance.
How is our intellectual property protected?
Your designs and data remain yours. Every Profesyst employee signs a non-disclosure agreement, and we agree intellectual property and confidentiality terms in writing before work starts. Our engineering centres run on controlled infrastructure with physical and data security, network security on every workstation, regular information security audits and remote backup of sensitive data.
How do we get started?
Send us a short brief, or a sample work package, through the contact form. We confirm scope, inputs, deliverables and review points with you, and a small pilot package is a common way to begin, before committing to a larger programme.
