Reverse engineering services that turn physical parts into usable CAD data.

Accurate digital models and drawings from existing parts and assemblies, for maintenance, redesign, benchmarking and tooling updates.

What we deliver

From physical part to parametric model.

We capture the original design intent as well as the geometry, so the resulting model can be edited, analysed and manufactured from.

  • 3D laser scanning and CMM inspection

Parts captured with 3D laser and white-light scanning, and checked by CMM.

  • Scan-to-CAD conversion

Scan data converted into clean, parametric CAD models.

  • Design intent and surface modelling

Capture of the original design intent, with performance surface modelling where needed.

  • Redesign to remove defects

Improved designs that correct problems found in the original part.

  • Legacy-fit parts and tooling updates

New parts designed to fit legacy parts, and tooling models updated to match shop-floor changes.

  • Manufacturing drawings and prototypes

Production drawings, plus rapid prototyping support.

Why clients use it

A stronger base for maintenance and lifecycle decisions.

Reverse engineering is useful whenever drawings are missing, outdated or no longer match what is in service.

  • Spare parts for equipment whose drawings are lost.
  • Competitor and benchmark analysis through product teardown.
  • Redesign of a part that has a known defect.
  • Digital records of plant equipment for maintenance planning.
  • Updating tooling models after changes made in production.

What we need from you

  • The physical part

We agree at the start whether parts are sent to us for scanning or whether you provide scan data.

  • Any existing drawings

Even partial or outdated drawings help us recover the design intent.

  • Material and function

What the part does, and what it is made of.

  • Target format

The CAD platform and drawing standard you want the result delivered in.

Frequently asked questions

Do you scan the part, or do we need to provide scan data?

Either can work. We use 3D laser and white-light scanners and CMM, and we can also convert scan data you already have. We agree the scanning arrangement for each project.

Will we get an editable model or just a mesh?

An editable parametric model. A mesh is only the starting point; the aim is a model that captures design intent and can be modified, analysed and drawn.

Can you also redesign the part?

Yes. If the scan reveals a defect or an opportunity, we can redesign the part and validate the change with analysis before drawings are released.

How is our intellectual property protected?

Your designs and data remain yours. Every Profesyst employee signs a non-disclosure agreement, and we agree intellectual property and confidentiality terms in writing before work starts. Our engineering centres run on controlled infrastructure with physical and data security, network security on every workstation, regular information security audits and remote backup of sensitive data.

How do we get started?

Send us a short brief, or a sample work package, through the contact form. We confirm scope, inputs, deliverables and review points with you, and a small pilot package is a common way to begin, before committing to a larger programme.
